Dominic and Cierra made the choice to have a first look at the Beaver Brook Country Club in NJ. Some couples still struggle with making this decision. Here are some Pros and Cons from an East Coast Wedding Photographer.
PRO
More Time Together
- For couples that would like to enjoy part of their cocktail hour, this will give you more time for pictures before the ceremony so that you can start celebrating with the rest of your guests sooner.
- Dominick and Cierra wanted to enjoy every minute of their day with their family and friends. It was a beautiful day at Beaver Brook and happy hour was outside overlooking the gorgeous grounds.
CON
Not at the Alter
- If walking down the aisle for the first time in your wedding dress and having your significant other seeing you for the first time, something you always dreamed about, a first look may not be for you.
PRO
Pre Wedding Jitters
- It is perfectly normal to be nervous on your wedding day, after all, this is something that you have been planning for a long time. Having a first look allows you to spend some time with the person that calms you and gives you time to relax and get some of those jitters out.
- Dominic and Cierra are not one for crowds so this was without a doubt a great decision for the two of them.
- Beaver Brook provided golf carts to transport both the bride and groom separately to a private location away from a big crowd.
CON
Earlier Start Time
- Because this takes place before the ceremony both bride and groom and their wedding party must be getting ready earlier.
PRO
Privacy
- Seeing each other for the first time can be a very emotional time. Both bride and groom may be crying, laughing, or even staring at each other in total awe. Having some privacy during this time can be beneficial.
- This is where my zoom lens comes in handy!! Although I can capture the couple perfectly, giving them enough space to enjoy their moment is very important. Something you do not get at the alter.
CON
Privacy
- Finding a place away from the early guests may be a challenge especially with smaller venues.
- Beaver Brook is a smaller venue, but the grounds allows the privacy for Dominic and Cierra to sneak back in and be tucked away until it was time for the two to go down the aisle. Other venues may not be able to accommodate that luxury.
